Frequently asked questions

FAQs

  • Appointments can be scheduled by phone or email or through the contact section of this page.

  • Some people come weekly, others every other week, and some once a month. I will work with you to decide on what frequency will work best for your needs, concerns and capacity.

  • I charge $160/50 minute session. My services are tax exempt. Please note that I do have a limited number of sessions available on a sliding scale for BIPOC individuals for whom cost is a barrier.

  • If you have access to benefits through your employer you may be eligible for reimbursement. Check to see if yours covers Registered Clinical Social Workers. You will receive a receipt that can be submitted to your benefits provider for reimbursement.

  • I use the square app. You will receive an invoice through your email following your appointment and can pay with e-transfer (preferred), interact or credit card.

  • I kindly ask for 24 hours notice to reschedule or cancel a session (barring any emergency). In the event less than 24 hours notice is given, or for missed appointments, you will be charged for your full session.

  • I use she/her pronouns

  • The information you share with me is confidential, which means that it is my ethical and legal duty to protect your information and privacy and to share information only if given permission to do so.

There are some limits to confidentiality, which include:

    • if you tell me of a child or youth is being abused or neglected

    • if you tell me you have an immediate plan to end your life or the life of someone else

    • if you are involved in a court case and the judge orders me to release your file or information in it

If you have questions regarding limits of confidentiality, we can discuss this in more detail during our first session.

The values that guide me include:

  • Authenticity

I greatly value authenticity in others and I try to bring that to my practice. I’ve found that when I'm able to show up in a way that is genuine it gives others permission to do the same. So often we feel a need to hide our true selves due to fear of judgment and a desire for validation. When you meet with me you are free to bring your whole perfectly imperfect self.

  • Diversity

I believe that diversity is a community’s strength and I have been privileged to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds including immigrants and refugees, people with diverse abilities including neurodiverse individuals, as well as LGBTQ2S+ individuals.

  • Decolonization

I am committed to decolonization. Ways I try to decolonize my practice include prioritizing reading and learning from Black, Indigenous and people of colour (BIPOC) as well as valuing non-Western approaches to healing. Recognizing the impacts of colonization, I offer a limited number of sessions on a sliding scale for BIPOC individuals. Please contact me for more information about sliding scale sessions.
